Badgley Mischka
Mark Badgley and James Mischka both had a common vision of dressing women in glamorous, vintage-inspired gowns. When they met at Parson's design school in the mid 1980s, they combined their talents to create Badgley Mischka. The brand, officially launched in 1988 after the pair was financially backed by their families, focused on elegant, wearable eveningwear. In 1993, Escada joined forces with the Badgley Mischka to expand the company to include a world audience and develop its new bridal line. In October of 2004 Iconix Brand Group acquired the company which helped it grow even more to become a true lifestyle brand.
The Badgley Mischka label now includes lines of couture, eveningwear, sportswear, handbags, footwear, jewelry, eyewear, swimwear, lingerie, fur, fragrance, bridal and bridesmaids. Eveningwear is still the brand's forté, with many of the designers' creations being worn down the red carpet. The second wedding dress worn by Kristin Davis as Charlotte York on Sex and the City was designed by Badgley Mischka. The Olsen twins, Sharon Stone, and Teri Hatcher have all been appointed the label's spokesmodels over the years.
